COBBLE HILL TOWNHOUSE
Completion: 2023 Site: Brooklyn, NY Size: 3,000sf
This petite thirteen foot wide townhouse is cleverly reconfigured about its narrowness. Finishes of rich woods, warm metals, and earth-tone accents present a contemporary elegance situated within the Late Italianate home.
Our clients wanted to reimagine life in their long-time residence, transitioning from a family-oriented home to a more seasoned space for entertaining. The reconfigured parlor floor features a bespoke closet and wet bar, both wrapped in walnut tambour and brass weave. The emerald quartzite bar sink, glassware, and entertaining accoutrement are smartly hidden beneath the lustered brass top begging to be cracked open. At the rear façade, an enlarged opening with steel doors and Juliet balcony provides ample sunlight into the rear living area and views into the garden.
The ground level kitchen is repositioned to bring the workspace closer to the garden. An unusually narrow island paired with floor-to-ceiling cabinetry combine to create a gracious high-performance kitchen. Nestled toward the center of the garden floor is a cozy walnut-lined dining nook with a custom Maharam-fabric banquette.
At the upper floors, the narrow home’s storage capacity is expanded with the insertion of finely detailed sliding closet door systems in the stair halls. Rhythmic walnut doors and wall paneling are paired with hand crafted hardware; while above, bronzed mirrors create a play of depth and light as a complimentary partner to the glorious historic central stair.
